Can you believe it? Betty Boop is almost 90! To celebrate this anniversary, King Features Syndicate and Betty Boop brand owner Fleischer Studios are bringing fans a wide range of new merch in time for next year’s big milestone.
The ultimate trendsetter is back on the scene with a range of new apparel, accessories, beauty products, and other licensed goodies befitting the Queen of Cartoons.
King Features kicked off the anniversary celebration with a female-focused capsule collab between Nike and Olivia Kim, designed to highlight Betty’s iconic look with a ‘90s flair. The collection includes a pair of sneakers (Boop’s wink becomes the swoosh), jerseys, T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and hangtags. Additional Betty Boop anniversary collections include a range from skateboarding brand Huf and a limited-edition beauty collection from Ipsy, each paying homage to the icon’s signature style.
“Betty Boop’s confidence, boldness, and sass have charmed fans for nearly nine decades. Her ability to captivate audiences is as strong today as it was in the 1930s,” said Carla Silva, vice president and general manager, global head of licensing for King Features, in a statement. “2020 is primed to be her biggest year yet with an unparalleled lineup of partners on board to celebrate our forever fabulous Betty Boop.”
The brand is planning even more new merch to celebrate the cartoon icon, including a new advice book (which, side note, I definitely want for my coffee table), jewelry collections, a new Funko Pop!, and other accessories — both stateside and internationally.
