Black Panther stole the show last night at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, scoring two titles.
The live action Marvel film won the top award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, as well as the award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.
The Outstanding Performance by a Cast win is sure to leave audiences hoping Black Panther will also take home the Oscar, as best picture SAG award winners generally win the corresponding Academy Award, according to Newsweek.
Glenn Close won the SAG title for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in The Wife. She was up against Lady Gaga, Emily Blunt, Olivia Colman, and Melissa McCarthy in the category.
However, Emily Blunt scored the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for the silent thriller A Quiet Place. In all fairness, any woman who gives birth in a bathtub while aliens are trying to eat her and her family deserves an award.
Out of the five contenders for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, Rami Malek won the award for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Mahershala Ali won the final award for the film categories, scoring the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Green Book.
