The board game debuted in 1995 as Settlers of Catan by Klaus Teuber. More than 45 million units have sold since then, in more than 100 markets. The fifth edition was released in June 2015, almost a decade ago.

The newest version remains similar to the game’s first edition, inviting players to build and manage their community on an uninhabited island. The new version includes enhanced game components, updated packaging, and revamped art, which includes an updated rulebook and game pieces. The game comes in a premium square format box with updated lid art featuring Catan’s idyllic environment.
