Captain America (Chris Evans) himself is this month’s cover star for The Hollywood Reporter. Yesterday, the magazine launched the accompanying story and video content on Evans, which included plenty of Marvel insider info. Here are just a few of the things we learned.
Apparently, the Avengers: Endgame trailer is a visual spoiler.
Discussing the upcoming Avengers movie, Evans let slip that the trailer gave away something, even if we don’t know what it is yet.
“I can’t believe they even cut together a trailer,” he says, “because so much of it is a visual spoiler. You’ll see.”
RDJ helped convince him to take the role.
Evans has spoken before about his reluctance to portray the Star Spangled Man. In fact, he said no twice before finally agreeing to the role. According to THR, close friends, a former teacher, and Iron Man himself helped convince him to say yes. Then, he immediately started therapy.
There is an Avengers group chat.
Apparently, the “core Avengers cast” has a text-message group (and RDJ calls Evans the funniest person in it) to keep in touch when they are apart. I would literally give anything to get a look at this group chat.
Evans got emotional watching Endgame, and after wrapping.
During an accompanying video by THR, Evans talks about the final day of filming, calling it “surprisingly emotional.”
In terms of watching the movie, I think this quote says it all: “Man,” he says. “… This one’s really good. I choked up like three times.”
Marvel gave him Captain America’s shield and cowl.
When asked if he kept any of Cap’s props or costumes, Evans says Marvel gave him the iconic shield and the headpiece. However, he also says he wants the full suit (apparently, Chris Hemsworth got the full suit).
Evans is set to make his final appearance as Captain America in Avengers: Endgame, which premieres on April 26.
