Prepare to embark on a visual journey through the Marvel Comics Universe!
Clover Press and Marvel have joined forces to launch The Marvel Art Of… books, a series of art books that showcase iconic Marvel Comics artists, feature iconic and never-before-seen artwork, and provide fans with a glimpse into the creative process.
The series kicked off with The Marvel Art Of David Mack and The Marvel Art Of Alex Maleev. These coffee table books showcase the careers of these two artists who are largely known for their contributions to Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, also working alongside bestselling writer Brian Bendis to create stories that have left a mark on Marvel Comics.
At this time, the books are only available via Kickstarter. Both books are available in either a standard edition (for a pledge of $75) or a Kickstarter-exclusive edition (for a pledge of $100) These exclusive editions feature gilded pages, a slipcase, and a Kickstarter-exclusive dust jacket. Other funding amounts on the Kickstarter campaign can get you one of 250 limited-edition signature plates, limited remarques, limited commissions, signed portfolio plates, and/or limited edition giclees.
Clover Press is also dropping two portfolios for both David Mack and Alex Maleev, which are packed with their most iconic covers and rare pieces. Available with a pledge of $270 0r more, these will feature both Daredevil and additional Marvel characters, including Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and more. Each portfolio features 14 plates. Finally, fans who are willing to pledge $2,5000 can get original art from Mack or Maleev with their copy of that artist’s book.
The Kickstarter campaign from Clover Press is live now and runs through July 6 at 11:55 p.m. ET. The campaign had a goal of $25,000, which backers have already surpassed — at the time of writing, the campaign has raised more than $150,000 with more than 660 backers. Those who purchase the books (and goodies) from the Kickstarter campaign can expect them to arrive by December.
And there’s even more *super* news: More books in the Marvel Art Of… series will be announced in the coming months!
