Can you tell me how to get to the Sesame Street basketball courts?
Curry Brand — basketball player Stephen Curry’s brand by Under Armour — is launching a footwear collection that brings the spirit of Sesame Street to the basketball court. A father to three kids under 9, Curry is partnering with Sesame Street’s nonprofit, Sesame Workshop as an extension of his recent efforts to celebrate Harlem and inspire young athletes.
Each Curry 9 Flow shoe in the upcoming collection will celebrate a Sesame Street character with unique colorways, markings on each shoe’s tongue tab, and a hint-of-character flag at the heel. The iconic Sesame Street sign is also featured on the sock liner of each shoe. Updated from the Curry Flow 8, the Curry Flow 9 has new features including a new traction pattern and UA Wrap, an Under Armour technology that improves foot stability.
There will be seven total shoes in the Curry Brand x Sesame Street collection, starting with designs inspired by Big Bird and The Count. The Big Bird shoes (called “Play Big”) are a vibrant yellow, matching Big Bird’s iconic feathers. There are blue and pink accents scattered around the shoe, inspired by Big Bird’s pink feet and blue eyes. The Count’s shoes (“Count It”) feature a shiny tongue tab that resembles the satin exterior of The Count’s cape, while the shoe’s interior emulates the cape’s colorful lining.
The first wave of Curry Brand x Sesame Street shoes will drop on Nov. 19 for $160 each. Additional “Street Pack” footwear and apparel will be released in the coming months (We want Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, and Cookie Monster shoes, please!) ensuring that we’ll all look our coolest in Elmo’s World.
