Mark your virtual convention calendars, folks — DC’s FanDome experience is coming back for another year, this time on Oct. 16.
At this time, there aren’t many details available about the second iteration of this virtual, global fan event. DC announced the date today via social media and a YouTube video, with the promise of additional updates to come.
This is an interesting move by DC, as a slate of in-person fan conventions (including New York Comic Con and “Comic-Con Special Edition“) are also slated to take place this fall. In fact, New York Comic Con is scheduled to end less than a week before FanDome. Will DC skip these socially distant cons entirely, or at least save all of its major announcements for FanDome?
According to DC, last year’s FanDome got more than 22 million views across 220 countries and territories. The event, which took place over the course of two days (Aug. 22 and Sept. 12), gave fans their first look at trailers for projects including The Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman 1984. In addition to trailer reveals; panels; and updates on various DC movies, games, shows, and comics, FanDome offered family-focused programming and a variety of exclusive merch.
While this year’s FanDome will take place after The Suicide Squad has premiered on HBO Max and in theaters (on Aug. 6), fans will likely get updates on Black Adam and The Batman, which are both scheduled to debut next year.
