Has it sunk in for anybody else that it’s 2021… and that we’re halfway through it? No? Nobody else still accidentally writing “2020” on dated documents?
Well, if your sense of time hasn’t completely eroded due to the pandemic, you must know that Diamond Select Toys (DST) has provided a first look at some of next year’s collectibles, and it’s got plenty in store! The lineup features items based on Marvel, Star Wars, The Crow, G.I. Joe, and Lord of the Rings.
To start, there is a 1:7 scale, 11-inch Eric Draven statue that’s on FIRE (not literally). Limited to 3,000 pieces, it depicts Draven atop a flaming crow design base with a guitar slung across his back and a crow perched on his arm. To follow up on this year’s Snake Eyes hype, DST will release an 11-inch PVC Diorama of the Arashikage warrior joined by his wolf companion Timber. In the LOTR department, Gollum gets the deluxe action figure treatment with 16 points of articulation, including three interchangeable heads, interchangeable hands, and bonus character accessories.
DST is featuring four Marvel characters in its offerings for next year: Doctor Octopus, Thor, Cyclops, and Venom. Both the 1:7 scale Doctor Octopus mini-bust and the 11-inch tall Cyclops resin statue will be limited to 2,000 pieces, complete with a certificate of authenticity. Thor will be landing into the collection as a 9-inch PVC Diorama on a rubble-strewn base, while Venom slithers onto the scene as an 8-inch action figure with 16 points of articulation and interchangeable heads and hands.
Rounding out the lineup are three Star Wars characters: Luke Skywalker, Count Dooku, and a Stormtrooper. Limited to 2,000 pieces, Luke dons his iconic all-black outfit from Return of the Jedi — complete with a green-bladed lightsaber — as a 12-inch, 1:6 scale figure. The Stormtrooper is a 3D, 1:2-scale bust measuring 10 inches tall and limited to 1,000 pieces. Last but not least, Darth Tyranus himself (AKA Ultime Darth Lord of the Sith) presents himself as a 1:6 scale, 7-inch mini-bust complete with a red-bladed lightsaber and limited to 2,000 pieces. Each product comes with a certificate of authenticity.
