Twice a year, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club presents D23 Expo, a place for Disney fanatics to get together and celebrate all the magic that makes up the House of Mouse, including sneak peeks at upcoming Disney films, what’s new at the theme parks, and the Disney Legends Awards ceremony.
This year’s Disney Legends ceremony will honor 11 Disney legends who have brought imagination, creativity, and magic to the company. The inductees are Avengers: Endgame actor Robert Downey Jr.; Marvel Studios‘ executive producer Jon Favreau; Star Wars and The Lion King actor James Earl Jones; singer/actress Bette Midler; High School Musical and Descendants director Kenny Ortega; Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Mulan actress Ming-Na Wen; composer Hans Zimmer; journalists Robin Roberts and Diane Sawyer; and longtime Disney employees Wing Chao and Barnette Ricci.
Honorees will receive a 2-foot-tall, bronze Disney Legends sculpture and will participate in a handprints ceremony at the end of the event. Their bronzed prints will be displayed in the Disney Legends Plaza at the company’s Burbank, California, headquarters.
The D23 Expo 2019 will be held from Aug. 23-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Tickets are available for $89 for one-day adult admission and $69 for kids ages 3 to 9. Gold Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club can purchase tickets for $77 for one-day adult admission and $59 for kids ages 3 to 9.
