It turns out Disney wasn’t kidding yesterday when it blamed high consumer demand for the technical problems many users encountered with its new streaming service, Disney+.

According to the company, Disney+ has racked up 10 million sign-ups since its launch yesterday morning. This puts the service well on track to meet 101 million subscribers by 2025, a number that Digital TV Research recently estimated.

While Disney was more than willing to share this impressive first-day benchmark, we shouldn’t expect regular subscriber updates. According to the official press release, these numbers will only be available during the Walt Disney Co.’s quarterly earnings calls in the future.

Overall, this seems to put Disney+ in a solid space for the impending streaming wars. However, it still has to contend with the upcoming launches of HBO Max and NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
