Not only can you catch up with the cast of Downton Abbey in the new feature film, out now, but you can also stay at the actual Downton Abbey IRL. Like, for reals. This is not a drill!
Highclere Castle, the actual English castle in which the hit drama was filmed, is listed on Airbnb. Lord and Lady Carnarvon, owners of the sprawling estate, are opening up the property for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for two guests to stay in one of the opulent bedrooms — for one night only: Nov. 26.
According to the listing, Highclere Castle covers 100,000 square feet and has 300 opulently decorated and furnished rooms, complete with distinctive historical details to lend it authenticity. There’s no price listed yet for the privilege of staying here; reservations open at noon on Oct. 1. There will be some hefty competition since only one reservation for two is available, so unless you “have a verified Airbnb profile, positive reviews, and [are] passionate about Downton Abbey,” don’t even bother.
The stay will include an exclusive evening drinking cocktails in the Saloon followed by a traditional dinner with the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon in the State Dining Room, with service provided by Highclere Castle’s own butler. After dinner, coffee will be served in the Library before guests retire to one of the Gallery bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom and views covering 1,000 acres of rolling parkland. The following day, guests will enjoy breakfast, a private tour of the grounds, and a special gift from Lord and Lady Carnarvon. Oooh la la!
