It’s almost time to hit the theater with your fellow Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fans! The live-action show Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern (D&DTST) will embark on a national tour in May, and your hometown could be one stop on the journey.
D&DTST is an interactive experience where audience members can watch — and participate in — a larger-than-life D&D campaign. Once you’re assigned a character, such as a Mage, Warrior, or Trickster, you’ll help make decisions on their behalf. Audience members will respond to different prompts on their phones via Gamiotics and participate in games to move the story forward (and watch as die is rolled under a camera). On the stage, actors will use their improv skills, character cards, and deep knowledge of D&D to act out each choice. Every decision has a consequence, so remember to choose wisely … or not, it’s your campaign!
The show is two hours and 30 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission that’s perfect to refill your Tankard Mug ($30), a themed mug you can purchase at the show, or discuss adventure with friends (and strangers). There are more than 30 playable characters, different locations, and more to explore. Every show is different, so you can follow the tour and have a new experience every night!
Hasbro and the creative team behind D&DTST, Curious Hedgehog, haven’t released the list of tour cities yet, so keep an eye and ear out. If you’re in New York City, you can watch the show now at Stage 42. A new block of tickets are now available until April 2025 at thetwentysidedtavern.com, so you can find the perfect combination of dates, times, and seats.
Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) attendees can attend the official D&DTST panel on July 28 to get another glimpse at the production (and maybe advocate for your city to be a stop)!
