It may be hard to focus on any non-Endgame MCU news ahead of the much-anticipated movie’s premiere, but try. Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff aka Elizabeth Olsen (IRL) has some news to share regarding her upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision.
According to Variety, the spinoff about Olsen’s superhero character will be set in the 1950s.
“There’s quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from and it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney+ launch chat, they showed a photo of us in the ’50s,” Olsen says. “Paul [Bettany] and I are really excited. They have a great group of writers. I think it’s going to be a total of six hours.”
After popping onto the scene in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, telekinetic/telepathic Scarlet Witch was killed off in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. (I mean, who wasn’t?!) Bettany, who plays superhero-slash-Wanda’s-bae, Vision, also first appeared in Age of Ultron. Both actors will reprise their roles in Endgame.
The forthcoming Disney+ series — written and produced by Captain Marvel screenwriter Jac Schaeffer — will be available on the new streaming platform next year, with shooting expected to begin this fall.
