The original Star Wars trilogy required several models of the Millennium Falcon, but none was more iconic than the one built for the action sequences in The Empire Strikes Back. Now, Fanhome is offering fans the chance to build an official replica made to the same scale.
This ultimate replica of Han Solo’s ship includes die-cast metal and resin components that are easy to construct. The completed 1:43-scale model is quite sizable at 32 inches long and 23 inches wide. The hull parts are supplied pre-finished, but expert modelers can apply their own battle scars and weathering to add extra authenticity and personalize the model.
The completed model also includes working LED effects that collectors can connect to an internal battery or external low-voltage power source. Separate systems can turn on to illuminate the rear sunlight drives, forward floodlights, and internal cockpit lighting.
The exterior of the ship features many fully articulated parts, including the upper and lower quad laser cannons and the rectenna dish. The boarding ramp is also moveable and will lock into either flight position or landing position for display mounting.
While the outer shell of the Falcon is inspired by the filming miniature used in the movies, the interior details are also remarkably realistic. These include the cockpit, the main hold with its engineering station and dejarik hologame board, gun controls for the quad laser cannons, and Han Solo’s smuggling compartments.
Along with each month’s shipment of components for building this model, fans will receive a full-color magazine. Packed with little-known facts and anecdotes, these issues feature rare, behind-the-scenes photography and revelations about the real story behind the Star Wars movie magic.
Fanhome Millennium Falcon builders will also receive special additional items at various stages of their subscription. Fans can expect a limited-edition T-shirt featuring a Millennium Falcon design, a hand-painted die-cast miniature of the ship, a ceramic mug, a baseball cap, and special binders to archive the collected magazines. Plus, for a limited time, subscribers paying with PayPal will receive a backpack emblazoned with the emblem of the Rebel Alliance and Resistance and decorated with an eye-catching Falcon design.
The model is complete in 100 separate assembly stages. The first stage costs $1.95, the second and third stages are free, and each stage thereafter is $13.99. Fans can subscribe now at fanhome.com. Check out the video below for a closer look at the build-up model!
