Funko will hold a three-day virtual convention this week for fans who are missing out on Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC), which is being postponed amid concerns over COVID-19. The event — open to everyone — will combine livestreams, podcasts, and social media hangouts using the hashtag #FunkoVirtualCon on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
It kicks off on March 11 with a livestream from Funko’s headquarters, as the company gives away prizes and releases more info on how the ECCC-exclusive collectibles will be sold online. The products will go on sale on March 13, and fans who won the Funko lottery should be on the lookout for more info from Reedpop on how to grab your Funkos first.
On March 12, fans can expect unboxings of all those sweet ECCC exclusives, as well as games and contests.
Friday the 13th is everyone’s lucky day: That’s when the exclusives officially go up on Funko’s website. The Funko Funkast will host a livestream from the Funko headquarters the same day, including a Q&A session, games, and giveaways. The Funkast panel will talk about pop culture, product hints, and maybe throw in a few bad dad jokes for good measure.
Fans are encouraged to make the virtual con feel more like an IRL experience by posting pictures in the cosplay that they planned to wear to at ECCC on Instagram or Twitter using #FunkoVirtualCon. For a full list of the pricing on the exclusives, head here.
