Earlier this year, Greenlight Collectibles rolled into Toy Fair with the first packaging samples for a new collection of die-cast vehicles inspired by the Garbage Pail Kids — the infamous series of sticker trading cards originally released in 1985 to parody the success of the Cabbage Patch Kids. We previously got a quick look at some of the artwork for the vehicles, and today we have a look at the pre-production samples!
Created in collaboration with The Topps Company, Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) series one is a six-vehicle set inspired by some of the most famous stickers from the original GPK collection. While each 1:64-scale vehicle will include an actual GPK sticker, the Clutch Clint 2012 Dodge Challenger will include a Greenlight exclusive GPK design from illustrator Joe Simko. Personally, I’m looking to Buck Truck as a real winner.
“When Greenlight was first exploring partnering with Topps & GPK we quickly learned the demographics of GPK collectors were identical to that of Greenlight’s thus making a perfect match to bring these two collector worlds together,” says Cale Hotton, director of licensing and product development for GreenLight.
