Godzilla and King Kong are two of the most iconic characters to ever grace the big screen, wreaking havoc on fictional cities for well over half a century.
Most recently, the two have appeared in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ blockbuster trio, Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Kong: Skull Island. Now, fans can get a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing these behemoths to the big screen, thanks to a new Kickstarter campaign.
Storyboard artist Richard Bennett and Clover Press have partnered for this project, seeking funding for a hardcover coffee table book called Godzilla & Kong: The Cinematic Storyboard Art of Richard Bennett. The book will showcase Bennett’s storyboard work for the most recent Godzilla and Kong trilogy.
The 200-page, hardcover book features both storyboard art and full-color stills for a selection of sequences from the Warner Bros. films, along with some never-before-seen deleted scenes. The book also has an introduction by Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard and an afterword by production designer Stefan Dechant.
Fans can back Godzilla & Kong: The Cinematic Storyboard Art of Richard Bennett now on Kickstarter. There are multiple pledge tiers to choose from: $65 gets you a copy of the hardcover book, $100 gets you a copy signed by Richard Bennett (limited to 125 copies), and $275 gets you a signed book and original art from Richard Bennett (limited to 15). If you want more copies, you can pledge $200 for a six-book bundle.
This campaign will only be live until May 6, so be sure to back it before then to get a copy of this monstrous art book. Thankfully, it’s a guaranteed investment: The campaign has already shattered its $7,500 pledge goal, with more than $30,700 raised at the time of writing.
