The most iconic monster of all time is making its debut in Magic: The Gathering.
Wizards of the Coast and TOHO Co. have partnered up to bring Godzilla Series Monster cards to the spring 2020 premier card set, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths.
Ikoria introduces players to a new world of monsters with which the humans will bond. One main character is Lukka, a proud member of the military unit that protects the city of Drannith from Ikoria’s more vicious monsters. Lukka forms a bond with a ferocious, winged cat and must flee Drannith because connections like that are considered treasonous. Planeswaker Vivien Reid helps him learn to adapt to his new world as an outcast.
The Godzilla cards will each feature a different monster from the Godzilla franchise. Sixteen cards will be available in English and three more in Japanese. Some of the most iconic cards are Godzilla the Primeval Champion, King Caesar the Awoken Titan, and Mothra the Supersonic Queen.
Godzilla cards will randomly appear as Magic cards, but there are some ways to guarantee the king of monsters ends up in your deck. Fans can only find the Godzilla, King of the Monsters card by purchasing the draft booster pack display in the Wizards Play Network Store. Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths boosters will contain two Godzilla series cards.
