With four new movies and five original series joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year, 2021 is the gift that just keeps giving for Marvel fans — and the studio knows it!
Today, Marvel Studios released the first trailer for its upcoming Hawkeye series, which is set to debut on Disney+ on Nov. 24. Leaning into that release timeline, this series is going to be super festive, complete with the incredibly punny tagline “This holiday season, the best gifts come with a bow.” (Get it? Because Hawkeye has a bow?)
The trailer gives fans a look at Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye, with Jeremy Renner reprising his role) following the events of Avengers: Endgame. He is enjoying Christmas in New York City with his kids and seems very happy — They even go see “Rogers: The Musical,” which appears to be a Broadway adaptation of Captain America’s story (calling it now — this will be the best part of this series).
However, as is often the case when you’re an Avenger, the good times can’t last forever. A news broadcast reports sightings of the “masked vigilante” (Ronin) who Barton became after losing his family in the Blip, but it isn’t him. So, Barton sets out to find the person who is impersonating his past self. That’s when he meets Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a hero.
Clearly, hijinks ensue! The trailer is packed with action and festive content, all set to “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
According to the official video description, the show’s cast will also feature Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. (However, despite that Black Widow end-credit scene, the trailer does not feature Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova — Assuming she appears in the series, Marvel seems to be keeping her exact role under wraps.)
Check out the trailer below and catch Hawkeye starting on Nov. 24!
