What do you get when you combine online shopping with a streaming event hosted by your favorite music artists? A hot topic.
Leading pop-culture retailer Hot Topic Inc. hosted its first live shopping event yesterday, March 2. Hosted by Black Veil Brides’ lead vocalist, Andy Black, HT Live featured exclusive merch inspired by the highly anticipated Warner Bros. film The Batman, which is set to release tomorrow, March 4. More than 17 items were revealed during the event, ranging from highly detailed Batman costumes to leggings and T-shirts. Plus, viewers had the opportunity to win a movie print signed by director Matt Reeves. Fans can head to hottopic.com to rewatch the livestream and shop the new reveals.
This is the first of many live shopping events for Hot Topic, as part of the company’s new, larger initiative to transform the digital shopping experience. In an effort to engage with super fans throughout the country, the company relaunched its mobile Hot Topic app back in September to continue promoting its Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe brands.
The company is also tuning into its strong music influence with the creation of the Hot Topic Music (@HotTopicMusic) Instagram account. Launched last June, the music-focused social media page keeps fans up-to-date with new releases, band merch, giveaways, and routinely hosts fan-favored artists for account takeovers.
With the return of in-person events in 2022, Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe are set to exhibit at 12 popular fan events including D23, Star Wars Celebration, Anime Expo, and Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).
