In case you haven’t checked a calendar and done some Star Wars math recently, we’ve got to let you in on a little secret: Return of the Jedi is turning 40 this year. And to celebrate four decades of Ewoks and Darth Vader’s demise, Hot Toys has launched a series of 40th-anniversary 1:6-scale figures, starting with Darth Vader and C-3PO.
The Darth Vader figure features the Sith Lord fresh out of his final confrontation with Luke Skywalker. You can display him in his classic, menacing form, but the set also includes a removable helmet that reveals a scarred Anakin Skywalker beneath, an interchangeable head that shows Vader being electrocuted by the Emperor, and interchangeable hands — including a stump to recreate the moment when Luke cuts off Vader’s hand.
There is also a deluxe version of the figure available, which also includes a light-up helmeted head inspired by Darth Vader shocked by Force Lightning and two additional display bases.
Like the Darth Vader figure, the C-3PO figure can be displayed in his classic form but also features accessories that can put the protocol droid into his look from Return of the Jedi. An interchangeable damaged face can be swapped out to show Salacious B. Crumb pulling out C-3PO’s eye socket! When his eye isn’t getting pulled out C-3PO’s eyes have LED light-up features.
Both figures also come in special 40th-anniversary-branded, window-box packaging that is designed to look like retro Star Wars toy packaging.
Whether you display your new figures in their traditional looks or with the fun Return of the Jedi-specific accessories, these figures are a great way to celebrate the anniversary of the third Star Wars movie! Both are available to preorder now at the links below.
