Fashion lovers and Barbie collectors: get ready. Mattel is partnering with iconic Brooklyn-based artist and designer Colm Dillane, AKA KidSuper, for the trendiest Ken we have ever seen.
KidSuper is best known for being a leader in streetwear fashion, so him designing the first Ken doll to be part of Barbie’s Styled By series is only right. The designer is appreciated in the fashion scene for his hand-drawn artistry, unique experimentation, and powerful collaborations with fashion powerhouses.
The doll is repping Dillane’s SS21 collection, wearing an outfit based on his Everything’s Fake Until It’s Real claymation show, the designer’s masterpiece that debuted at Paris Fashion Week. The doll is wearing an army jacket with vintage Barbie and Ken illustrations on the sides and striped pants with black birds soaring up the legs. The doll sports a “KS” ball cap over his long, blonde curls.
The Barbie Styled By KidSuper Ken doll will be available to Barbie Club 59 members starting May 9 at creations.mattel.com before launching worldwide on May 10. Whether you’ve been following KidSuper’s work for years or just know a good-looking Ken doll when you see one, you won’t want to miss this new collab.
