Tomorrow, Sept. 18, the Bat-Signal will be shining high in the sky in celebration of Gotham City’s caped crusader. To honor Batman Day, Warner Bros. Consumer Products has teamed up with Kross Studio to reimagine Tim Burton’s iconic Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film into a limited-edition, collectible desk clock. While this clock is something only Bruce Wayne’s budget could afford, it’s too cool not to share!
The engineers behind the clock sought to build an immersive collectible that would respect the exact shape of the most iconic car in the DC Comics universe. Limited to just 100 pieces, the 1989 Batmobile desk clock is set at a retail price of… $29,900.
The lofty price can be attributed to Kross Studio’s meticulous attention to detail in crafting the clock. Just like the Dark Knight himself, the 1989 Batmobile desk clock relies on high-tech gear and high intelligence. Containing a total of 512 components, this time-telling Batmobile is furnished with its own powerful engine that employs a mechanical winding movement and has a power reserve of 30 days. Additionally, the clock’s movement runs at a frequency of 3 hertz, making its movement more precise than the common mechanical clock.
In true Batman fashion, the Batmobile desk clock disguises its intricate mechanics with a sleek, black finish. Shaped in black aluminum and sealed with scratch-resistant coating, the car’s matte-black exterior adheres to the same proportions of the 1989 Batmobile. The hours and minutes are displayed in two cylinders on the hood of the iconic vehicle. The car also includes spinning wheels and tinted windows so Batman fans can imagine the experience of a high-speed ride through Gotham City.
