Lobo

Yesterday marked the second season premiere of Krypton, a Syfy series based on DC characters that takes place 200 years before the birth of Kal-El/Superman. The network used the occasion to drop some exciting news for DC fans: There’s a Krypton spin-off in the works.

The new series will follow Lobo, a “foul-mouthed, dangerous, irascible, intergalactic bounty hunter” who entered the Krypton universe in last night’s episode, played by Emmett J. Scanlan.

Lobo, an alien born on the planet Czarnia, has been appearing in DC comics since the ’80s and has a history of being pretty violent. (According to DC’s character database, his name literally translates to “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it.” Sounds like a lovely fellow.)

Syfy hasn’t provided a release date or additional casting information yet for the spin-off, but Krypton executive producer Cameron Welsh is on board to serve as the executive producer and writer for the series.
