It’s been 28 years since Home Alone first hit theaters in 1990. I’s still more relevant than ever, dominating the holiday season with phrases such as “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal” and Home Alone memes making the rounds every winter.
Macaulay Culkin is in tune with what’s necessary, reprising his iconic role as Kevin McCallister in an ad for Google Assistant. Culkin posted the ad to his Twitter feed, with the caption “Have you ever wondered what Kevin McCallister is like as an adult? Me neither. But just in case you’re curious you should totally watch this #ad.”
The video starts with a sweeping shot of the McCallister mansion, bringing back all the feels before we even get started. “Mom? Dad?” Culkin asks as he peeks his head into the hallway.
His trusty Google Assistant tells him he has the house to himself and he has a blast recreating scenes from the movie, including the aftershave scene, the dancing cardboard cutouts (but this time they’re on Roombas!), ordering pizza from Little Neros (on a tablet instead of a phone), and yes, even telling them to “keep the change ya filthy animal.” We also finally get justice for the luscious plate of mac and cheese that Kevin never took a single bite of in the movie when the white bandits interrupted him. Macaulay Culkin officially wins 2018, and we can all go home now.
