Mario might be the most famous character to ever grace our game screens, an icon known by anyone who loves video games. A character this important deserves a full day of celebration, and Nintendo is ready to deliver on March 10!
Mario has a long history. From his start back in the 1981 arcade classic Donkey Kong, to the newest iteration of Nintendo Switch games, the princess-rescuing plumber has seen a huge collection of video games, multiple TV series, and even a recent hit movie. Nintendo is celebrating the character’s rich history with returns to the classics, deals, sweepstakes, and more.
You can get in on the nostalgia of old Mario with Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, available on Nintendo Switch Online. Running until April 1, players with a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership can earn Platinum Points by playing Super Mario World, redeeming them for digital as well as physical Mario-themed rewards. Nintendo also has deals on the games you’ve been wishing for, with the Nintendo eShop offering discounts on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Party Superstars, and more.
Gamers can also test their mettle with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament, running on March 10 from 12 – 6 p.m. Pacific Time. The top 310 players will receive 1,000 My Nintendo Gold Points each.

The My Nintendo LEGO Super Mario Sweepstakes offers lucky winners the chance to get their hands on three LEGO Super Mario sets, with popular characters Bowser, Dorrie, and Yoshi.
