May has only just begun, but if you’re anything like us, you already can’t resist getting excited for Pride Month in June! Marvel is gearing up for the month as well, with a full release of pride variant covers.
The new Marvel variant covers follow the reveal of seven Star Wars pride variant covers earlier this year. Now, another iconic franchise is getting in on the fun, highlighting queer Marvel heroes with six variant covers.
The new covers feature favorite characters in new illustrations from artists Lucas Werneck and David Talaski. Werneck’s bright cover art is influenced by Ballroom culture, while Talaski opted to have characters front-and-center in a variety of poses. The characters featured include Rachel Summers aka Askani, Aaron Fischer aka the Captain America of the Railways, Black Cat, Fang aka Daken, Escapade, and Web-Weaver.
The “Immortal X-Men No. 12” with the pride variant cover by Talaski and the “X-Men No. 23” with a cover by Werneck will be on sale on June 6. “Amazing Spider-Man No. 27,” “Captain America: Cold War Omega No. 1,” and “X-Men Red No. 12” with pride variant covers will all be on sale on June 14. Finally, “Amazing Spider-Man No. 28” with its variant cover will be available on June 21.
To get your hands on the new variant cover versions of the comics, check in with your local comic shop regarding availability. Fans of Marvel can also get excited for the June 14 release of a new installment of Marvel’s Voices: Pride.
