The follow-up to Sony Pictures’ Venom is headed to the big screen in October 2020.
Kelly Marcel is writing the script for the antihero’s sequel, and she will also serve as the film’s executive producer. Marcel was a screenwriter and producer for the original movie.
Tom Hardy, who is known for his roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Mad Max: Fury Road, will once again star as leading man Eddie Brock. Michelle Williams will also return to the cast as Anne Weying, while Woody Harrelson will play Carnage.
There is no director for the sequel yet, as Reuben Fleischer—director of the first movie—will instead be hard at work on Sony’s Zombieland sequel. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal will continue producing the movie franchise.
Venom grossed $80.2 million in its premiere weekend last October despite poor reviews, according to Deadline.
