New York Comic Con and MCM Comic Con are back for another year of Metaverse, a week of virtual fan programming for everyone missing conventions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There’s a lot going on, and you won’t want to miss out!
Metaverse will stream tons of free panels on YouTube from June 7-13. These panels are mainly divided into four categories: anime, cosplay, comics, and gaming.
The anime panels are filled with casts from fan-favorite series, including the new Sailor Moon Eternals movie, Dr. Stone, Bleach, and more. While there is the typical Q&A time with the casts, Metaverse is getting creative with technology: Attendees can play various games — such as Among Us and Jackbox Games — with different casts! Metaverse will also host watch parties of Yasuke and Bleach, so fans can connect together through a shared experience.
The cosplay panels promise tips and tricks for beginners and professionals alike, wrapping up with a panel hosted by cosplayer VampyBitMe, who will teach viewers how to make perfect cosplay armor.
The comic panels are intended for both artists and fans. Some workshops focus on the creation aspect, while others celebrate famous series, such as Riverdale. Comic artists will even play a live game of Sketch Duel, where they will take crazy prompts from fans and battle to see who makes the best illustration.
Finally, two groups — The McElroys and the Oxventures — will host the gaming panels. Join the Oxventures in a live Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or ask the McElroys all about their Adventure Zone series.
Attendees still have time to submit questions to all Q&A sessions on the Metaverse website. Fans can also buy official Metaverse merch to celebrate the event, including Metaverse, MCM, and NYCC-branded shirts, pins, and more.
