My Hero Academia is set to soar.
Ahead of Licensing Expo 2019, Funimation signed 18 new partners for My Hero Academia. You know what that means: Merch is on the wayyyy!
The anime series, for the uninitiated, is about a group of students attending a hero academy. With three seasons and an upcoming feature film under its belt, My Hero Academia is officially a full-fledged franchise. Produced by Bones, My Hero Academia is based on the New York Times best-selling superhero manga of the same name that first appeared in Shonen Jump in 2014. To date, there are 22 volumes in the manga series, with more than 20 million copies estimated to be in print around the world.
Now, thanks to a total 31 licensing partners — plus more in the wings — My Hero Academia is represented across all major merchandise categories, ranging from apparel, accessories, figures, and collectibles to home goods, wall décor, gifts, calendars, and costumes. Literally allllll the My Hero Academia.
Thanks to the new agreements, fans are in store for new toys and collectibles from McFarlane Toys, The Loyal Subjects, Funko, China Manufacturing Direct, and more. Take a look at some of them below.
Funko, a partner since last year, is bringing new apparel, accessories, stationery, food and beverages, digital goods, Pop! vinyl figures, post-it notes, loungewear, bags, lanyards, jewelry, blankets, drinkware, candies, drinks, and more to fans.
McFarlane Toys is ready with new toys and games, including 6-inch to 12-inch action figures and play sets.
The Loyal Subjects has partnered with Funimation for new toys and collectibles, including a collection of Action Vinyl-stylized action figures.
Fans will also be treated to new gifts and novelties, including a new collection of FigPins, from China Manufacturing Direct.
Other new partners include Bandai for toys, collectibles figures, and accessories; Culture Fly for gifts and novelties, branded retail, and subscription My Hero Academia collector boxes; Just Toys for toys and games, including mega merge action figures, buildable figure dioramas, and plush with light and sound features; Trans World Entertainment for food and beverages — including cereal, chocolate bars, and other confectionaries — and beauty products, such as soap, bath bombs (um, YES.) and perfume; USAopoly for a My Hero Academia Monopoly game; and Zag Toys for toys and games, including Domez collectibles.
On top of the new swag on the way, Funimation recently released the home video for the My Hero Academia: Two Heroes feature film and will be releasing season three of the series on home video later this year.
