Neopets — the immersive online pet game in which players can adopt, customize, and interact with their pets in the world of Neopia — has unveiled a collection of apparel for Pride Month. This collection, available year-round, donates 10% of its total profits to It Gets Better Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and connecting LGBTQIA+ youth across the globe.
Launched in 1999, Neopets became a staple of the Internet in the early 2000s. Not only did it explode in popularity because of its fun features, but also because it served as a place for young people to express their individuality, identity, and interests in a safe forum. The Neopets’ Shop Pride Collection is another way in which Neopets continues to create an intentionally inclusive space for the queer community.
The Pride Collection features 11 products, including T-shirts, tanks, fanny packs, stickers, and sweatshirts. The merch features fan-favorite characters and bright graphics, such as the Neopets logo in rainbow colors or a collection of paintbrushes with different pride flag colors. Many of the items also include positive messaging, such as “Free to Be Me” and “Be Proud, Live Loud.” Plus, to go along with the rainbow theme, the merch comes in a selection of colors to stand out in any fan’s closet.
