Netflix is gettin’ geeky, folks!
With the continued absence of in-person fan conventions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Netflix is joining the growing ranks of entertainment companies that are hosting their own virtual events to showcase upcoming content, like DC has done with its FanDome event.
The Netflix virtual event is scheduled to take place from June 7-11 and will be called “Geeked Week.” Inspired by the massive fandoms that have formed around many Netflix originals, the week of programming will include exclusive news, new trailers, live art, drop-ins from stars, and more. The event will also be completely free and available for fans to access globally.
Right now, there isn’t a ton of information available about the event, but the Netflix Geeked accounts (which regularly provide updates about Netflix’s geekier offerings) did release a graphic indicating some of the shows that will be part of the festivities. The graphic generally lists some of the types of content that Geeked Week will cover: movies, gaming, comics, fantasy/sci-fi, and animation. Then, there is a list of specific shows, which includes Masters of the Universe: Revelation, Lucifer, The Umbrella Academy, The Witcher, The Sandman, The Cuphead Show, Resident Evil, Sweet Tooth, and Cowboy BeBop. (Basically, the shows that Netflix would usually send to conventions throughout the year!) Stranger Things isn’t on the graphic, but we are really hoping it’s included in the “and so much more” portion of the list.
