We’re getting four new Harry Potter books!
Well, to be more specific, we are getting four new nonfiction e-books based on elements of magic explored in the Harry Potter universe. While that may not be quite as exciting as getting new novels from J.K. Rowling herself, this is still welcome news for any true Potterhead.
The books are based on the popular “A History of Magic” library exhibit — which originated in London and temporarily traveled to New York City at the end of last year (check out our review!) — and the exhibit’s companion books. The exhibit explores elements of real-world magical history and how they inspired J.K. Rowling as she created the Wizarding World. Nicolas Flamel, bezoars, and mandrake roots are all real, just FYI.
The e-book series is called Harry Potter: A Journey Through…, and the individual books will cover Divination and Astronomy, Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions and Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures. Described on Pottermore.com as “bitesize reads,” each book includes not only facts about magical history but also Harry Potter manuscript pages and sketches from the exhibit.
The first two books, Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology, will publish on June 27.
Harry Potter: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy will publish on July 25, and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures will publish on Aug. 22.
Fans can preorder all four e-books now on Amazon, for only $2.99 each.
