Holy fan holiday, Batman! It’s that time of year again, as fans prepare to celebrate more than 80 years of the Caped Crusader on Sept. 17.
Batman has been with us as an iconic character since the early days of Detective Comics. He’s not only well-known as an individual hero, but has one of the most iconic rogue’s galleries with loved (and hated) characters including the Joker, Harley Quinn, the Riddler, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and more. And this Batman Day, there are many ways for fans to celebrate the beloved hero.
To start, you can find your nearest participating comic book store to get your hands on two free comics: “Batman: Hush No. 1 Batman Day Special” (a personal favorite, which features some fun appearances of classic Batman villains) and “Batman’s Mystery Casebook Batman Day Special Edition” (which is appropriate for both kids and adults). Both comics have covers marking them as special editions.
Make sure to check social media as well, as the previously mentioned rogue’s gallery has decided to hack all of the Caped Crusader’s accounts for his big day. Now you’ll finally know how the Riddler feels about Batman within the character limits of a tweet.
To get fans excited for Batman Day, HBO Max and DC Comics also teased the voice cast for the upcoming Batman Azteca: Choque De Imperios (“Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires”). The upcoming animated feature film gives us a Mesoamerican Batman and will feature Horacio García Rojas as Yohualli (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Omar Chaparro as Yoka (The Joker), and Álvaro Morte as Hernán Cortés (Two-Face).
Batman has also had many a moment to shine on the big screen, and Batman Day will reflect this. Cinemark will be hosting showings of different Batman films and — for those who prefer couch-watching — TNT has a marathon planned.
Gamers are not left out of the fun, as MultiVersus players can join a special event playing as the Caped Crusader to win a unique profile icon. Injustice 2 Mobile players also have special features to enjoy, including free, daily in-game gifts from Sept. 13-19 and a Classic Batman Arena Invasion event and in-game sales starting on Sept. 16.
Also within the digital sphere, DC Hybrid NFT Trading Cards will be dropping for Batman Day, while Bat Cowl NFT owners will have access to several events through their Discord.
To truly prepare for Batman Day, you’ll need to look the part, and GUESS Originals has you covered. GUESS Originals will be releasing a unique capsule for the occasion, called GUESS Originals x Batman. In tandem with the launch, Golden Apple Comics is going to have a shop-in-shop going at the GUESS Originals store on La Cienega in Los Angeles to mark the occasion. Make sure to check out the capsule when it drops on Sept. 15.
