The 1960s cult classic The Green Hornet may not be back on TV airwaves anytime soon, but the iconic superhero series is coming to collectors’ shelves with a new line of products courtesy of Diamond Select Toys (DST).
The Green Hornet series centered around the titular hero and his sidekick, Kato. The pair took down bad guys in the city while disguised as criminals themselves, fooling the criminals and the public in the process. Bruce Lee’s role as Kato — former assistant to the Green Hornet’s father and the high-energy sidekick to Britt Reid in the superhero series — is one of the first roles many Bruce Lee fans first saw him in before his trail of iconic American films. The series only lasted one season but left a big impression on fans of Bruce Lee and superhero enthusiasts across the country.
The last time fans saw these heroes on screen was in the 2011 film The Green Hornet, which starred Seth Rogen and Jay Chou as this crime-fighting duo.
DST’s new selection of collectibles will include a variety of product categories, including action figures, Gallery PVC Dioramas, 1:7-scale mini-busts, and Legends in 3D 1:2-scale busts of Green Hornet and Kato. Diamond Select Toys has partnered with the Green Hornet Inc. and the Bruce Lee family to officially license these items.
The Green Hornet collectibles will be available to preorder starting this fall and will arrive at retail next year.
