Cowabunga, collectors! After announcing plans to expand into non-fungible tokens (NFTs) earlier this year, Funko just revealed its first set of digital Pop! collectibles, which will officially launch on Aug. 3.

Dubbed “Digital Pops!,” these collectibles will be offered in packs starting at $9.99. Each pack of Digital Pops! gives collectors a chance to reveal a rare Funko Digital Pop! which they can redeem for a free, limited-edition, physical Pop! figure IRL.

The first collection of Digital Pops! will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT)-themed, featuring characters including Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo, and Shredder. It will cost $9.99 for a pack of five Digital Pop! collectibles and $29.99 for a pack of 17. Within the packs, fans will discover digital cards with varying rarities, ranging from Common to Grail.

For the TMNT collection, the rare NFTs that collectors can redeem for physical Pops! include a colorful “Legendary” Bebop (1,467 pieces), a “Legendary” Shredder (1,467 pieces), a metallic “Legendary” Casey Jones (1,467 pieces), and a rainbow chrome “Grail” Leonardo (999 pieces). Fans who collect one of every NFT in this series will also get a free limited-edition Pop! figure, featuring Freddy Funko decked out in TMNT gear (2,160 pieces).

In addition to revealing the theme of its first range of digital collectibles, Funko published a blog post detailing instructions on how the NFTs will work and how to utilize the WAX blockchain where these collectibles will live. In order to purchase Funko Digital Pop! items, collectors must open a WAX account at wallet.wax.io. Fans will be able to purchase the collectibles using a credit card, but the WAX wallet is required to see their NFT collection and to buy/sell/trade the digital collectibles. To track their Digital Pop! collection, collectors will also need the free Tokenhead app, which is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.

The post also gives additional information about the rare Digital Pops! that can be redeemed for physical figures. Fans who are lucky enough to open one of these treasures will get a “Redemption Coin” in their WAX account 120 days after the series first drops. Once the coin is in their account, that collector has 30 days to redeem it. It is important to note that the current owner of the NFT at the 120-day mark is the one who will get this redemption coin, not the original buyer. So, if you sell your rare Digital Pop! a week after you open it, the new owner will get the physical figure instead of you.
