The last film in the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, opens in theaters on Dec. 20, but that won’t be the end of Star Wars. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is joining forces with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy for a new Disney Star Wars film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Disney first acquired Marvel in 2009 and brought Marvel and Lucasfilm together after acquiring the Star Wars company for $4.05 billion in 2012.
“With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together,” says Walt Disney Studios Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Alan Horn.
May the force live on.
