In an interview with Variety, FX CEO John Landgraf revealed that Marvel was the reason behind the death of Donald Glover’s animated Deadpool TV series. The show was scheduled to air on FX but the project was killed in March of this year due to creative differences.

Landgraf told Variety that FX wanted to move forward with the show, but that Marvel, who owns the rights to Deadpool, overruled them as the company simply did not want to do the show that Donald and Stephen Glover wrote.

“When Marvel decided not to do that show, we parted company with them as did Donald and Stephen,” said Landgraf. “Now it’s totally up to them [Marvel] whether they hire someone else to do a different show.”

There’s always a possibility that Marvel will revive the idea but it looks like it won’t be with the Glovers or FX.
