marvels runaways

After that dramatic ending scene of the last episode of season two, the Runaways split up; however, not all of them remained free, leaving quite the cliffhanger scene by the time the credits rolled.

What could possibly happen next? Fans clamored for any hint that a third season would happen. But the show remained in limbo for Hulu, and fans had no clue if we’d ever get the answers we craved or see our favorite ships and families again. Then, during a special Instagram takeover on Sunday, dinosaur Old Lace supposedly took control of the show’s account, in which she revealed the exciting news about a new season of adventures for the six teens, their sinister parents, and a group of villainous, shape-shifting aliens.

The teaser video included fan messages pleading for a third season alongside images of Lace running throughout the hostel sharing the good news with the runaway teens.

“We are so excited to tell more ‘Runaways’ stories and are so grateful to Marvel, Hulu, our amazing cast and crew, and of course our passionate audience,” co-showrunners and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage say in a statement, according to Variety. “Season three will be a magical time on Runaways, as we deepen our connection to the Marvel universe. We are honored to continue to play in the sandbox created by Brian K. Vaughn and Adrian Alphona.”

Marvel’s Runaways is gearing up for another 10-episode season after the lingering question from last season remained: Whose body did the last alien take over? (My money is firmly rooted in either Leslie’s fetus or Alex.)

For those who’ve forgotten, the end of season two saw Janet, Karolina, and Chase trapped in sacrificial pods under the supervision of the aliens posing as Victor, Tina, and Stacey; Dale and daughter Gert on the run with Lace; the Wilders in police custody due to their vengeful son; and Molly, Nico, Alex, Leslie (and fetus), and Xavin left alone in the hostel. With plenty of cliffhangers, there are multiple stories left to explore, this time with even more connections to the Marvel universe, as the Runaways face new, powerful foes.

While we won’t get any answers for a while, you can catch up on both previous seasons now on Hulu.
