The Nintendo Switch family is getting a brand new sibling!
The new Nintendo Switch OLED Model is quite literally a power-up from the original Switch and Switch Lite systems, and its reveal comes after months of rumors about a new, upgraded Nintendo Switch model. This new gaming console features a larger, vibrant 7-inch screen; 64 GB of internal memory; enhanced audio; and an OLED display (that stands for organic light-emitting diode, if you were wondering) to take Switch gaming to a new level.
Aside from the physical upgrades, the OLED Model features enhancements for all three Nintendo Switch play modes. In TV mode, players can set the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) into a new dock with a wired LAN port.
The console features a wide, adjustable stand that players can flip out to enjoy tabletop mode, which can be used to enjoy multiplayer games using the system screen and the two included Joy-con controllers.
Lastly, players can use handheld for taking the system on the go. Based on where they are in the world, players can choose to game locally or they can go online and play multiplayer with their friends.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) will come in two colors: one with white Joy-cons and the other with the more traditional red and blue Joy-cons. It will be available starting on Oct. 8 for $349.99 at major retailers, which is $50 more than the price of the original Nintendo Switch system when it debuted.
