Mr. Potato Head is an icon himself, but now the popular toy is headed even further into the pop culture sphere!

Super Impulse — known for its World’s Smallest brand, which offers miniature versions of classic toys and games — is now developing Poptaters. The time-honored Hasbro Potato Heads will be getting a pop culture mash-up, spotlighting celebrities and fictional characters alike.

Series 1 features four different characters. | Source: Super Impulse

The first release in this new line features musician Gene Simmons of KISS, Optimus Prime from Transformers, The Joy of Painting host Bob Ross, and Garbage Pail Kid Adam Bomb. Each Potato Head character has the usual interchangeable parts, so collectors can even mix characters together. You can create a truly bizarre collectible chimera of Gene Simmons and Bob Ross, if you choose!

Each set includes a Potato Head and a number of accessories to go with it, with one surprise original piece. This means the more Poptaters you get, the more ways you can mix and match. And with new sets on the way, there’ll soon be near-endless combinations.

The new collection of figures launches today, Jan. 5, and is available exclusively on Amazon. You can get a 4-inch figure for $17.99 or a more portable keychain version for $5.99. And though this first series only features four figures, plans are already in place for a Series 2 release this spring featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, Dwight from The Office, “The Dude” from The Big Lebowski, and Good Luck Trolls.
