Masters of the Universe

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe are the gifts that keep on giving, most recently thanks to Super7.

Mattel‘s epic 5.5-inch action figures live on with the Masters of the Universe (MOTU) Vintage Collection, which reimagines the classic figures in styles that mirror the designs made famous in animated series. Then there’s the 3.75-inch ReAction Figures, mini M.U.S.C.L.E. figures, occasional continuations of the MOTU Classics line, and some other surprises in the mix. This week’s surprise is He-Man and Skeletor in Japanese boxes.

Japanese Masters of the Universe

The 5.5-inch figures are the standard Vintage Collection editions, complete with spring-loaded waists for power-punch action! The boxes are based on an original Japanese prototype that was created in the 1980s but never used during the series’ original run. He-Man includes a half-Power Sword and shield, while Skeletor comes with a half-Power Sword and Havoc Staff. Like their Vintage Collection counterparts, each of these will set you back $20 bucks.

If the “what if?” collectibles aren’t your bag, Super7 also launched Wave 4 of the Vintage Collection this week. The wave includes Transforming He-Man, Shadow Orko, Buzz-Off, Evil Seed, Evil-Lyn, Shadow Weaver, and Stratos. The Transforming He-Man glows in the dark. Every home should have one.
