Spooky season is in full effect, calling in the cream of the crop when it comes to the best horror movies to binge, creepy-cute fashion to wear, and scary collectibles to add to your Halloween decor. Horror always has a huge presence at New York Comic Con (NYCC) and we sorted through it all to bring you some top picks from the show floor.
Whether you’re into wholesome movies like Hocus Pocus and the Charlie Brown specials, campy classics like Beetlejuice and The Munsters, or the more hardcore horror like Chucky and The Conjuring, check out our list of these 13 must-haves we saw at NYCC.
FUNKO POP! THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS 13-DAY COUNTDOWN CALENDAR — BLACK LIGHT (FUNKO)
The Halloween countdown is on! Lead up to the spooky holiday (or any special occasion) by opening 13 tiny doors, each housing a different Funko Pocket Pop! collectible inspired by characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Each 2-inch figure is designed to shine brightly under a black light. The Countdown Calendar is available at Amazon, Target, and funko.com for $35.
TROLLIFIED 5-INCH VINYL FIGURE MASH-UP 3-PACK (KIDROBOT)
We wouldn’t want to meet this trio in a dark alley. The Bride of Frankenstein, Michael Myers, and Chucky get a Trollified makeover in the style of the Good Luck Trolls for this limited-edition NYCC exclusive. Only 300 were made, but they are currently still available on kidrobot.com for $75.
THE MUNSTERS ULTIMATE 7-INCH FIGURES (NECA)
Love it or hate it, Rob Zombie’s take on The Munsters launched on Netflix last month. At NYCC, NECA displayed a new line of action figures and collectibles based on the film that will include 7-inch figures of the Count, Herman, and Lily Munster. The action figures are not online yet, but they are expected to launch by the end of the year.
GEEKI TIKIS BEETLEJUICE MUGS (BEELINE CREATIVE)
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Be the host ghost with the most by serving your drinks in these tiki-style ceramic mugs that are both dishwasher- and microwave-safe. The Beetlejuice Mug is available now on toynk.com for $34.99. The Adam and Barbara Mugs first debuted at this year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego, and they are available to preorder at Entertainment Earth for $27.99 each, with shipping expected by the end of October.
STITCH SHOPPE MICKEY & MINNIE MOUSE CANDY CORN SANDY SKIRT (STITCH SHOPPE BY LOUNGEFLY)
Dress to kill with this festive, spooky season skirt featuring candy corn-colored panels, spiderwebs, and cameos along the bottom showcasing Mickey and Minnie Mouse as spiders, ghosts, bats, and pumpkins. The skirt has a zipper back, pockets, an elastic waistband, and a button closure. Each skirt also comes with a matching enamel pin of a Mickey and Minnie pumpkin. PEANUTS REACTION WAVE 4 (SUPER 7)
The Great Pumpkin is coming! The Peanuts gang knows how to celebrate Halloween, and these collectible figures feature the squad dressed to impress as ghosts and goblins. These Halloween editions of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Violet, and Linus and Lucy come on cardbacks featuring the original Charles Schulz art from the 1950s comic strips. The full set is available on super7.com for $70. There are also individual figures available at the Official Peanuts Store for $19.99 each.
GREMLINS CAROLING GREMLIN ORNAMENT (POPMINDED BY HALLMARK)
🎵 Deck the halls with boughs of Gremlins, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la. 🎵 Life’s too short for boring holiday trees. Spruce up your spruce with a Caroling Gremlin Ornament bundled up in a textured winter hat and scarf. The ornament is available at hallmark.com for $17.99.
HOCUS POCUS HANDMADE BY ROBOTS FULL-SIZE VINYL FIGURES (HANDMADE BY ROBOTS)
No need to wait 300 years to bring the Sanderson Sisters back. Standing approximately 5 inches tall, these Handmade by Robots figures are designed to look like knit fabric at first glance, but they’re actually made of vinyl. The Hocus Pocus collection includes Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson, as well as Billy Butcherson and Binx the cat. Get them on the Handmade by Robots website for $14.95 each.
2022 TOPPS GARBAGE PAIL KIDS X COMIC CON “OH THE HORRIBLE” (TOPPS)
The Garbage Pail Kids made an appearance at NYCC with a limited-edition trading card set containing 10 sticker cards and an additional sepia parallel. The cards feature exclusive horror movie-themed characters with art by Dave Gross and Brent Engstrom. The con exclusive is also available on topps.com for a limited time between Oct. 6-13. ERIC DRAVEN MINI BUST (DIAMOND SELECT TOYS)
While The Crow straddles the line between horror, fantasy, action, and superhero genres, fans of Eric Draven will appreciate this resin, 6-inch bust (pictured on the left) featuring the character on top of a base patterned after the roof of his apartment. Sculpted by Rocco Tartamella, Eric wears his borrowed trenchcoat with the Crow sitting on his shoulder. The bust is limited to 2,000 pieces, available to preorder on diamondselecttoys.com for $120.
TRICK ‘R TREAT SAM GLOW-IN-THE-DARK BOBBLEHEAD (ROYAL BOBBLES)
Always stay on sidewalks, never go to a stranger’s house, and never go out alone. Keep your jack-o’-lantern shining bright on All Hallows’ Eve with this glow-in-the-dark bobblehead featuring Sam from Trick ‘r Treat. When you hit the lights, the eyes, nose, and teeth of the jack-o’-lantern will glow a ghastly green. Get it at FYE for $34.99.
MARK SPEARS MONSTERS TRADING CARDS (THE NACELLE CO.)
These trading cards feature all original artwork by artist Mark Spears, with two different base styles available: Dracula or Frankenstein’s Monster. Each card pack comes with seven cards, a sticker, and a stick of gum. The Dracula packs feature “full bleed” artwork that is printed to the edge of the card. The Frankenstein’s Monster packs feature “distressed” artwork printed on clay-coated cardstock, giving them the look and feel of classic trading cards from the ’70s and ’80s. So many horror movies to choose from, so little time.
