Todd McFarlane is making a plastic buffet. At least that’s how the comic book artist-turned-toymaker described his business during today’s “Inside the McFarlane Toys Multiverse” panel at New York Comic Con (NYCC).

“I’m gonna put it all out there for you,” McFarlane told the room of fans, describing the wide variety of products his company sells. “You slide your plate along the buffet and you put on whatever you want.” And during the hour-long panel, McFarlane and members of his team showed just how much that buffet has to offer with announcements and updates about what’s coming soon. Keep scrolling to see the biggest news from the panel!

MOVIE MANIACS IS BACK!

McFarlane Toys is officially bringing back Movie Maniacs, a collection of detailed, 6-inch figures that depict popular on-screen characters and come with an environmental base. McFarlane is partnering with Warner Bros. for this relaunch. At the panel, the team teased figures of The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, Bugs Bunny, Harry Potter, and Ted Lasso.

MCFARLANE IS MAKING DEMON SLAYER FIGURES

This anime license, according to McFarlane, has been a frequent ask from both fans and the team behind Demon Slayer. The initial Demon Slayer offerings will include 5-inch figures of Muzan Kibutsuji and Tanjiro Kamado, plus 7-inch figures of Inosuke Hashibira and Tanjiro Kamado.

RECREATING PANDORA IN TWO SCALES

Unless you’re living under a pop culture rock, you know that the very long-awaited Avatar sequel is hitting theaters this fall. As this brand takes center stage in pop culture again, McFarlane Toys is bringing fans the magic of Pandora in two collectibles lines. The first is called “World of Pandora.” These smaller-scale collectibles offer a lower price point and emphasize the Na’vi world. This line includes sets like the Omatikaya Forest, which recreate the colorful wildlife, flora, and fauna on Pandora.

McFarlane Toys also has a selection of Collector Action Figures, which offer a larger scale with more detail and articulation. The highlight of this collection is certainly the Banshee, which the Jake Sully and Neytiri figures can ride.

All of the items in both the World of Avatar and Collector Action Figures lines feature special detailing that collectors can reveal under a black light. The figures for the original Avatar (pictured above) are hitting retail now, with additional Avatar: The Way of Water figures set to launch with the movie.

THE LATEST FROM DC MULTIVERSE

The multiverse just keeps growing! McFarlane’s popular DC Multiverse is almost constantly expanding, but the team showed a few specific characters that are coming soon. Most notable is a wave of 7-inch figures inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Batman movie trilogy, including a figure of Heath Ledger’s Joker. The four figures in this wave will include build-a-figure components to make Tom Hardy’s Bane.

DC DIRECT MUST-HAVES

This year, McFarlane relaunched the Super Powers line under the DC Direct label, which it now owns. At the panel, McFarlane teased what’s coming next spring for this line: Figures of Nightwing, Wonder Woman, and Deathstroke, along with Batmobile and The Invisible Jet vehicles. While the vehicle teaser featured all-grey prototypes, McFarlane told attendees that the jet is made entirely of clear plastic. Like all toys in the Super Powers line, the jet leans into the retro aesthetic.

“It’s so bad, it’s good,” McFarlane explained. “It’s all clear plastic, but to make toys you have to have pieces, rivets and stuff. So you can still see all that … This is how toys were made 20, 30, 40 years ago, when I broke into the industry. But now they’re not making bad toys anymore — but they’re kinda fun!”

Fans also got a look at the upcoming resin statues in some of DC Direct’s ongoing lines.

PAGE PUNCHERS … FT. SPAWN

Page Punchers series is a fairly new launch from McFarlane. Each includes a comic book, along with a 7- or 3-inch figure. Next spring, four 7-inch Aquaman characters will join the collection with new character covers. For the 3-inch line, fans can expect Futures End No. 1, Rebirth Batman No. 1, Flashpoint No. 3, and Forever Evil No. 1.

But that’s not the only news in the Page Punchers realm. McFarlane’s Spawn universe will also get the Page Punchers treatment next year. Each will include a Spawn comic with two articulated figures, starting with Spawn with Anti-Spawn and Gunslinger Spawn with Auger.

EVEN MORE SPAWN!

In addition to the Page Punchers, McFarlane Toys’ new Spawn offerings in the spring will include Medieval Spawn, Monolith, and Sinn.

BATMAN CLASSIC SERIES

Finally, collectors can take it way back with the newest additions to McFarlane’s Target-exclusive Batman: Classic TV collection. Multiple characters will join the line this fall, as well as a four-figure tin tote set. In the spring, King Tut, Radioactive Batman, and Two-Face will be available.
