Wubba Lubba Dub Dub! Rick and Morty is officially back with its eighth season, and Adult Swim gave fans a sneak peek at what’s to come during New York Comic Con (NYCC).
On the Main Stage, attendees not only saw a clip of the upcoming season but heard from the voices and minds behind Rick and Morty. Fans warmly welcomed executive producers Dan Harmon and Scott Marder, as well as the voice cast, which consisted of Harry Belden, Ian Cardoni, Sarah Chalke, Spencer Grammer, and Chris Parnell.

Before presenting the season’s sneak peek, the panelists expressed their gratitude to everyone in the audience. Harry Belden and Ian Cardoni, the latest additions to the show, expressed their appreciation for all viewers and fans of Rick and Morty.
“You get to meet the fans face-to-face, and the best part of that for me is the amount of people that come up to me and say ‘Rick and Morty is my comfort show’ or ‘Rick and Morty is the only show that my entire family sits down and watch together.’ It’s humbling to be part of something like that,” said Harry Belden, voice of Morty Smith.
“Harry and I both started as fans of the show,” added Ian Cardoni, voice of Rick Sanchez. “To become a part of the fandom and then have a hand in the storytelling is really, really fun. As actors, we rarely get the opportunity to get any kind of feedback from our audience, so having moments like this [NYCC] is really special.”

For those who haven’t caught up with the series, Belden and Cardoni recently stepped into their roles after Justin Roiland, the original voice actor for Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, left the show after Season Six. Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer revealed they couldn’t be more pleased with the duo and their work in the new season.
“They’re just so good, and also, I just love their story so much,” said Sarah Chalke, voice of Beth Smith. “They were actually fans of the show. The fact that they had done the Rick and Morty voice impressions in their college dorms…they were actually rehearsing this whole time for this moment. You couldn’t find two nicer, funnier human beings.”
“My first thing was, ‘Are they really gonna sound like them?’” said Chris Parnell, voice of Jerry Smith. “But then, when I heard them…you couldn’t ask for anything better.”
“It’s been incredibly wonderful to have them on the show,” said Spencer Grammer, voice of Summer Smith. “To have these two lovely, wonderful guys come in and do these voices incredibly, as well as bring their own acting skills to it as well, I am just very grateful that we have them.”
When revealing the sneak peek, the producers shared how the season was still in its early animation stages. The clip portrays the familiar antics of Rick and Morty as they once again find themselves in some kind of trouble while traveling in space.
The adventures of Rick and Morty don’t stop here. The executive producers also announced some exciting news about the series’ future.
“We are, believe it or not, almost done writing the first pass of Season 10,” revealed Marder.
“Seasons 8, 9, and 10 are incredible. I’m so excited [because] Season 8 is coming out soonish, Season 9 is in the early stages, and Season 10 is just the script,” added Harmon. “We would like to share with people that these kids [the cast] will remain out of street gangs until at least 2029 because we’re doing two more seasons!”
Rick and Morty will have four more seasons after the Season 8 premiere! While there’s no set date, fans can expect new episodes to come sometime next year. Fans can catch up before the upcoming season (or, in this case, seasons) by watching Rick and Morty on Hulu, Max, the Adult Swim app, or adultswim.com.
