If you’re single and ready to mingle, one of the most important things to look for in a partner is a mutual love for the same TV shows as you. After all, no one wants to waste time arguing over whether you’re watching Riverdale or Rick and Morty (the easy solution: watch both). The dating app OkCupid is taking steps to match people based on their favorite TV shows, and they’re starting the initiative with Game of Thrones.
OkCupid will launch a new badge that labels users as GoT fans, displayed directly under the name, age, and location on a profile. The app decided to launch the badges with GoT first because the HBO series has nearly 2 million mentions in user profiles, more than any other show.
OkCupid also did a deep dive into the compatibility of its users, coming to eye-opening conclusions that couples who choose Khal Drogo and Daenerys as #relationshipgoals are less likely to argue than those who prefer Jon Snow and Ygritte. Drogo and Dany shippers are more in support of one-night stands rather than long-term commitments. Those still dreaming of a Ned and Catelyn Stark reunion are more likely to seek a lifetime partnership. The data also found that people who are more anti-Trump wanted Jon and Daenerys to take the Iron Throne, while Trump supporters prefer the Lannisters.
Single or not, all GoT fans have a date on April 14 when the eighth and final season premieres on HBO.
