There’s nothing that makes my heart sing more than a rainbow of paint swatches. If you’ve seen every episode of House Hunters and Queer Eye, if you think Martha Stewart is an icon of our generation, or if you just love a good pop of color in your #OOTD, the release of Pantone: The Game is a dream come true.
Spice up your next rager with this easy-to-learn competitive party game, in which two to 20 players try to identify pop culture characters that are represented only by abstract arrangements of color, inspired by Pantone.
Players will create recognizable characters with a few well-placed color swatches. Like a small puzzle, arrange the colors to reveal the character with the barest of essentials. When another player guesses the character correctly, both players score points.
If no one can guess the character during a round, a hint is given at the start of the next round, with each hint reducing the number of points awarded to both the artist and the player who correctly identifies the character. For example, if the character card says Abraham Lincoln, the hints would be person, log cabin, top hat, and Gettysburg. The winner is the player who has the most points after each player acts as the artist three times.
The identities of the character cards have not yet been revealed but I can think of a handful of colorful characters that would be great for this game—Wonder Woman, the Hulk, and Sonic the Hedgehog to name a few.
The game was designed by Scott Rogers and will be released by Cryptozoic Entertainment on Aug. 22 at retailers nationwide.
