The People’s Choice Awards (PCA) made its E! debut with last night’s red carpet and award ceremony, where the big winners were Avengers: Infinity War and Freeform’s Shadowhunters. Both nabbed Movie and Show of 2018 honors, respectively.
The MCU didn’t stop there, with Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, and Danai Gurira also taking home statues for their roles in Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther. On the TV side, Shadowhunters stars Harry Shum Jr. and Katherine McNamara also took home honors for the roles on the supernatural Freeform drama, while Riverdale and Orange is the New Black were named top TV Drama and Comedy, respectively.
The award show, which did not have an official host, kicked off with a performance by Nicki Minaj and a touching tribute from John Legend to honor The People’s Champion winner Bryan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative, and added 13 new categories including reality show, revival show, and bingeworthy show.
The PCAs is the only major award show voted entirely by the public to decide their fan favorite movies, TV shows, music, and pop culture. Melissa McCarthy was named People’s Icon of 2018, Bryan Stevenson was honored with People’s Champion of 2018, and Victoria Beckham took home the statue for Fashion Icon of 2018.
