Although Jim Henson is no longer with us, we can still celebrate his creative genius. This year marks the 45th anniversary of Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas, a TV special that Henson directed, produced, and acted in that is narrated by Kemit the Frog. The live-action special follows the titular Otter and his mom as they try to win the Waterville Christmas talent contest.
To commemorate the anniversary, the Jim Henson Company and merch-maker Plastic Meatball are teaming up to launch a line of Emmet Otter products. The line currently includes an Emmet and Ma Otter figure set, posters, and a concert T-shirt.

The Emmet and Ma figures stand at 4.5 and 5.5 inches tall respectively and include accessories like Pa’s tool box, a basket of laundry, and a washtub bass. The figures are available for preorder through Dec. 31 and are expected to ship later next year.
The collection also includes a Frogtown Hollow Jubilee Jug Band poster and a wooden variant that feature Emmet, Ma, and the other band members. There is also a concert T-shirt for the Riverbottom Nightmare Band, the band that the Jubilee Jug Band loses to in the talent show. The posters and T-shirt are available now at plasticmeatball.com.
Even if you don’t win the town talent contest, you can share the joy of the holidays with your family (or just yourself) with the Emmet Otter merch collection!
