pop culture hall of fame

Pop culture and pop culture collectibles literally wouldn’t exist without the talented actors, writers, designers, artists, and producers who help create them.

The Pop Culture Hall of Fame — formerly the Toy Collector Hall of Fame — recognizes these key individuals, adding new names to its roster every year since 2015.

In years past, the Hall of Fame only added five or six people, but this year’s class has 10 inductees. Find out who they are below.

  • Blake Wright (historian): Wright has written and published two volumes of The Toys That Time Forgot, artwork books that cover the history of unproduced collectibles and toys.
  • Christopher Lloyd (actor): Back to the Future wouldn’t have been nearly as iconic without Lloyd as Doc Brown.
  • Garth Ennis (writer): Ennis is the writer and/or co-creator of comic book series, including Preacher, Punisher, The Boys, and Hitman.
  • Gary Gygax (game developer): He created Dungeons & Dragons, and with it an entire gaming style that has become synonymous with nerd culture.
  • Haim Saban (entrepreneur): Saban founded Saban Entertainment, which produced the U.S. version of the Power Rangers.
  • Hayao Miyazaki (legend): Without Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, we wouldn’t have movies such as Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away.
  • Jean Giraud/Moebius (artist): Working under the name Moebius or Gir, Giraud produced art for countless iconic comic books.
  • Layron DeJarnette (artist): He currently works with Garbage Pail Kids, and he has worked created art for comics from Disney, the BBC, DC, and more.
  • Reis O’Brien (designer): O’Brien is the senior designer at Funko.
  • Robert Downey Jr. (actor): He. Is. Iron Man.
